Change of Address at the SAAQ

Moving? Notify the SAAQ of your new address as soon as you know it. You are required to advise us within 30 days after your new address takes effect; failure to do so leaves you liable to a fine ranging from $95 to $154. This amount is subject to change and includes fines provided under the Highway Safety Code, registry fees and a contribution to IVAC, (Please note that additional fees may apply).

Take note: Should you hold a disabled parking permit but do not have a driver's licence or vehicle registration certificate in your name or a claim file with the SAAQ, you cannot notify us online of your change of address.

Notification of a change of address may be done:

• over the Internet (Service québécois de changement d'adresse)
• by telephone
• by mail
• at an SAAQ service centre or a licensing agent's office

You must provide the following personal information:

• your full name at birth
• date of birth
• former and new addresses
• home telephone number
• telephone number where you can be reached during the daytime or where a  message can be left for you
• effective date of new address.

Depending on the situation, this personal information may be asked of you:

• If you have a Québec driver's licence
  • the driver's licence number (under numéro de dossier on some licences)
  • the reference number (No de référence) on your driver's licence
• If you do not have a Québec driver's licence
  • the licence plate number of your vehicle
  • your vehicle's registration certificate number.
• If you have a compensation claim file with the SAAQ:
  • the claim number.

Should you fail to receive confirmation within 10 days after the date the address change takes effect, please contact us by telephone.

Confirmation of your new address will have to be stuck on or kept with your driver's licence until its renewal, according to the kind of licence you have.
