Pilot Project on the Reprogramming of Air Bag Electronic Control Modules

The SAAQ has been carrying out a pilot project in which the REA-7 company is authorized to reprogram air bag control modules and to install them back into their original vehicles. REA-7, a Québec-based company, has shown that it could reprogram this type of module according to methods recognized by the SAAQ.

The goals of the pilot project are:

• to introduce new technologies in road vehicle safety equipment in compliance with road safety;

• to study, improve and develop standards for the reprogramming of air bag electronic control modules.
