Are you Moving?
Are you renting a truck to take care of your own move? Are you towing a trailer with your vehicle? Do you have the right class of licence? If you are taking care of the move yourself, you must respect certain obligations.
Change of address
If you are moving to a new address, government departments must be notified of your change of address. You can notify six different government departments and agencies in one easy online step. If you have not received a confirmation from the SAAQ within 10 days of moving to your new address, please contact us.
If one of the following cases applies to you, you are required to request a change of address.
- Personal vehicle
Driver's licence and vehicle registration certificate. Information the SAAQ requires.- online (Service québécois de changement d'adresse)
- by telephone
- by mail
- by going in person to an SAAQ service outlet
- Joint-ownership or joint-lease of a vehicle
A vehicle is registered under the name of more than one person. Information the SAAQ requires. - Vehicle under the name of a business

- Disabled parking permit
If you hold a disabled parking permit but do not have a driver's licence, vehicle registration certificate or a claim record with the SAAQ. Information the SAAQ requires.
Important
Are you lending or renting your vehicle to someone? Is that person's driver's licence valid?
Before lending or renting your vehicle to someone, take the time to check whether that person has a valid driver's licence. If your vehicle is stopped by a police officer, it can be immediately seized for a period of 30 days if the licence of the person driving the car is not valid.
