Mandatory Registration in the Register of Commission des transports du Québec

If you are not in the Register of the Commission des transports du Québec, operation of heavy vehicles on a road is prohibited, even if you have paid the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) the necessary registration fees for these vehicles.

Individuals who fail to register their vehicles with the Commission des transports are liable to a $500 to $1,000 fine. Other fees may be added to the fine provided under the Highway Safety Code (contribution to the IVAC crime victims compensation program, registry fees, etc.).

Under the Act respecting owners, operators and drivers of heavy vehicles, only owners and operators of heavy vehicles who are registered in the Commission's register may put a heavy vehicle into operation on a road open to public vehicular traffic.
