Knowledge test and vision test

When you go for your appointment, remember to bring the following:

  • if you are under age 18, a completed “Written consent of person with parental authority” form;
  • two valid pieces of identification (health insurance card, the original of your birth certificate issued by the office of the civil registrar (Directeur de l'état civil), if you are born in Québec, or a birth certificate issued by the official issuing authority, if you were born elsewhere in Canada, Canadian passport or Certificate of Canadian Citizenship, etc.);
  • applicable fees, costs for obtaining a licence for various classes of driver's licence. The cost of a licence varies according to the period of time for which it has been issued (4 to 15 months), which is determined effective from the holder's birth date.

A knowledge test is comprised of 32 multiple-choice questions about the Highway Safety Code, road signs and traffic signals and the techniques of driving a moped or motorized scooter.

This test allows the SAAQ to ensure that you are adequately prepared to drive a moped or motorized scooter.

Passing mark: 75 %

If you fail the test: You must wait at least seven days before you can take the test again. An appointment is required.
