Definitions

The concept of “speed” is defined in several ways:

• The speed limit (statutory limit) is the limit authorized under the law. It is the speed that is posted on signs alongside roads.
• The operating speed is the speed at which a driver decides to travel.

On our roads, speed limits are posted on white road signs. These signs indicate the maximum and sometimes minimum speed limits drivers can travel on public roads.
