Nine out of ten individuals in Québec now automatically buckle up when sitting in the front of a vehicle. But that is not enough! 32% of drivers fatally injured from 2005 to 2009 were not wearing a seat belt.
Some people believe that if they drive slowly or over short distances they are not at risk. They are WRONG!
More than half of all road accidents occur near the home and in zones where the speed limit is 50 km/h or less. Wearing a seat belt reduces by half the risk of being killed or seriously injured in an accident. In a collision at only 50 km/h, the force exerted on a moving body multiplies body weight by 35.
