In autumn 2009, the SAAQ ran a radio campaign from September 14 to October 12 to remind everyone who rides in an automobile about the importance of wearing their seat belt. The message was clear: “Buckle up... Always!” This campaign included two ads, each specifically adapted to day time and night time broadcast. Listeners were made to realize that a simple act like buckling their seat belt can save their lives.
Wearing a seat belt reduces by half the risk of being seriously injured or killed in an accident. Despite this fact, many people still don't buckle up: from 2004 to 2008, 33% of deceased drivers were not wearing their seat belt. If all vehicle occupants wore their seat belt, 65 deaths and 180 serious injuries would be avoided every year.
