Negligence, inattention and distraction are the main causes of accidents involving drivers and pedestrians. Nearly 80% of those accidents happen at intersections or between two intersections. Year after year, the SAAQ notes a greater number of pedestrian accident victims during the fall (October, November and December) than at other times of the year namely because:
Hence, during Pedestrian Month (October), the SAAQ encourages drivers to obey road signs and traffic signals and make sure that they are visible to pedestrians. We also ask pedestrians to follow the same advice and, as far as possible, cross at intersections only.

The animation shows two pedestrians using a crosswalk while the pedestrian traffic light counts down. The ad will be shown from October 3 to 30, 2010 on the TVA and V networks.
