Drugged Driving – A Phenomenon on the Rise

The consumption of a number of drugs increased significantly in Canada between 1994 and 2004. The following charts show the extent to which consumption of the main illicit drugs has risen [1].

In Québec, a survey conducted in 2004 on gambling and tobacco, alcohol and drug consumption by high school students provided data on the frequency of cannabis consumption by 5th year high school students:

  • Occasional use: 25%
  • Regular use (at least once a week): 15%
  • Daily use: 9.5%
