Road Courtesy: A Concern in Québec

A survey conducted in 2011 by the SAAQ revealed that 84% of driver's licence holders felt that a lack of courtesy on the road is a serious problem in Québec and 47% of respondents felt that drivers are somewhat courteous on the road.

We asked the respondents of our 2011 survey which aggressive behaviours bothered them most.

Their answers and the percentage of respondents who indicated the behaviours are listed below:

  1. Cutting off other vehicles 26%).
  2. Obscene gestures, verbal abuse or showing impatience (19%).
  3. Excessive speeding (18%).
  4. Tailgating (17%).
  5. Honking unnecessarily (15%).
  6. Failure to obey “Yield” signs or  the right-of-way (11%).
  7. Failure to signal their intentions (turn signals) (6%).

Showing courtesy makes travelling more pleasant and, especially, safer!
