2008 Campaign- Courtesy Feels Good!

La courtoisie ça fait du bien!Through two television commercials and a radio ad, the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) wished to encourage road users to be more courteous to others and to share the road. “Let someone else go first – it'll make your day! Courtesy feels good!” was the message, which was delivered with a positive and inspiring tone.

The ads portray people going about their daily lives on the road. The four courtesy messages feature two motorists, a pedestrian and a cyclist. In each message, one road user leaves room for another to go first. By sharing the road, they realize the positive impact their gesture has on other individuals, who can then go on their way safely. The message is light-hearted and the pace is contagious.

The code of conduct promoted by the campaign is simple:

  • make eye contact before carrying out a manoeuvre;
  • signal your intentions;
  • give others enough space and time to complete their manoeuvre;
  • express your appreciation.
