Child Seat

Child SeatFor children who weigh 10 to 30 kg (22 to 65 lbs), if the vehicle is so equipped*.

Rear or forward-facing?
Even if your children weigh 10 kg (22 lbs) and can walk unassisted, put them in car seat facing the rear until they outgrow the seat. The instructions for the seat should indicate its height and weight limits for this type of installation. Some car seats can be placed facing the rear until children weight up to 20 kg (45 lbs). Your children will be safer, even if their legs are touching the back of the vehicle seat.

Forward-Facing Installation
First, secure the tether strap at the top of the car seat to the vehicle's anchorage point installed or supplied by the vehicle manufacturer. The location of the tether anchors is determined by the manufacturer and indicated in the vehicle owner's manual.

Universal Anchorage System and Locking ClipNext, secure the child seat with the seat belt or the UAS. Thread the belt through the seat slots, according to the manufacturer's instructions, using the slots that are closest to the backrest of the vehicle's rear seat. Then, buckle the seat belt or attach the UAS and make sure there is no slack. Lastly, tighten the tether strap.

Once the seat is installed, it should not move forward or backward or allow more than 2.5 cm side-to-side movement at the attachment points.

You can use a locking clip to set the length of the three-point seat belt. To find out how, read the instructions in the vehicle owner's manual. If your vehicle's seat belts block only in the event of impact, it is necessary to install this clip.

Placing the Child in a Seat
The harness straps should pass through the seat slots located at or above the child's shoulders. Be sure to properly insert the harness tongue(s) into the buckle. Adjust the straps as closely as possible to the child's body. There should be space for no more than one finger between the harness straps and the child's collarbone. Adjust the chest clip at the child's underarm level.

*Ask your vehicle manufacturer if you can use a child safety seat for a child over 18 kg (40 lbs). If not, a booster seat is strongly recommended.
